and my newest piece from start to finish...

so it's been a few months... and I'm way out of practice. I wanted to do something a bit different that i usually do and I've had this image in my head since fall. didn't actually get started on it til a few weeks ago.

I've never jumped in a pile of leaves. I've kicked a small pile of leaves from the gutter at friends on my way back from school back in the day... but never jumped in a pile. Always thought it'd be kinda cool.

Finally finished the headphone heads... and pretty happy with the way it came out. If you haven't noticed already, some of the inspiration came for this piece came from existing work I've done. Bottom right would be the komplex city.

I also got some pics back from other people who made gorillas.

I was hoping to get promoted at work sometime early next year... I start tomorrow... O.o

I'll be working with my friend Josh while i'm working my regular job at the same time until they find someone to replace me at the old one. so that'll be 6 days a week O.o; ... 16 hours on saturdays. but saturdays are normal and nothing eventful usually happens then. so i can probably unwind and do some artwork.

1st thing i'll need to do is get some new freakin clothes... or at least something that'll match my older brother's clothes HAHAHAHAHHAHA.... hehehe.... heh....mmmmm. too bad he dresses like a stylized grandpa. I'ma go for the yuppie look.

and on the other hand, i think christmas present will be covered. *\ " /*

okay so i'm currrently working on some headphone heads for oxidizzy's VecKR #2. an online magazine. details can be found here. Doing it outta boredom really, and the site is awesome.

... the years of making faces in the mirror have finally payed off. thinking of maike a black background with some colorful soundwave motion things ... like visualizatins you'd find on winamp. gotta have it done before the 20th.

and if you haven't checked it out. i redesigned the fun section a bit. more colorful with pics and.. BELLY OF WISDOM

was playing with music players and generally just trying to get back into doing stuff in flash. i really wanna learn action scripting... probably never gonna happen.

made a little somethin somethin incase you're at work.. or bored outta your mind.. or if you're just in plain need of a friend...

relatively easy to make. you can grab a copy in the fun section. But remember kids, have an adult help you cut it out. that way, you can avoid the lame part and go straight to the fun stuff!

1600x1200 for desktop pleasure. been incoporating everything i learend in Illustrator so far. been gettin better, but no leaps and bounds like i expected I would have. need to learn implementing textures some how. it'd make the world of difference.

by request, i've decided to update my blog. I've been busy trying to get better with my art i haven't even been thinking about my site other than to upload some stuff so i can show friends... and i've been lingering around deviantart. But as promised (to myself), this blog is more about gettin more intimate with my work. aka sketches, before and after stuff what i've learned, and ideas running in my head while doing them.

WITH THAT SAID, I have a lot of ground to cover... I'll start at the beginning.

I got an email that one of my teachers back at Ai recently died. I decided to shoot out an email to few of the crew i used to hang out with about it. Long story short, one of my friends got an evite for a memorial held up by students. After meeting up with up with my friend that day, I got a craaaaazy inspired after checking out his work, as well as some new movies he popped in..

Got back home and started sketching.

all these new pieces came from drawing for one day, then pretty much vector'd them out through the course of the week. There were other drawings, but they'll probably be sit in the back burner and whither away through the course of time. but yeah... here we go.

And in no particular order whatsoever....

Raphael Remember in the 1st TMNT Movie back in ... 1990?. I can reply that whole first conversation between Raph and Casey. But the most memorable part of that whole movie.... Casey: So long, freak! I got work ta do! Raph: Freak!? FREAK!? Come back here! I'm not finished with you! DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMN! good wholesome fun. love that movie. Oh and the two spots by his right foot on the sketch... yeah that's blood from my nose. had to stay in character. Now how many artists do you know that actually put their own blood and sweat into their work?

Shredder Unlike the late 80's cartoon, in the 2003 TMNT Shredder was no joke. He was feared. There weren't any maybe-all-that-hardware-is-for-making-coleslaw jokes. His clan of foot ninjas even had it's own inner workings of heiarchy from street thug, to the foot elite. So i decided to modernize him to make him truly 'Gangsta. I've had a million requests to make this into a t-shirt. Any volunteers want to tell me where to start with the liscencing issues?

Usagi Yojimbo Another TMNT character. I did the pencils, my gf did the colors & background. mainly cause i was feeling lazy and she was bored. speaking of which... we did this in the same manner.

Crazy-schoolgirl-from-some-messed-up-anime-you-can-probably-think-of ...because i can't remember the name of the anime, except for the fact that some girl was trying to dig up a Colonel statue (yea the KFC guy) from a garbage heap... and needles in rice balls. pretty freaky anime. My friend was supposed to color it, not sure if he's gone around to it yet. wanted to make a haloween card ;_; If you're wondering about all the weird sentences, I was thinking about videogame violence. When kids murder, rape, hijack, steal, pillage, and plunder... Blame Pirates of the Carribean. Let's face it folks. the kid was pretty ****ed up in the head to begin with. I hope that Jack Thompson gets crushed by a 900 lbs. of irony in the shape of a tetris block . Besides, if videogames really did teach and train kids to be violent, we should be more worried about korea.

Me cause i wanted to make a pic of myself. haven't done a self portrait in a looooong time and something that matches this site better so i can use it in this blog. the one with the glasses is the old avatar from my other site.

Fire Fish Just wanted to do something different. I still want to color it, but haven't gotten around to it. I'm actually scared to cause i've never done anything like it before.

In other news.... Avatar is awesome... that is all.

because i miss hawaii so much i started sketching a bit and came up with this

and then after realizing that i didn't really have a decent widescreen desktop, i made it into one. i wanted to play more with a pastel type of color and what better way than to make the scene at sunset. i worked it like i did the angel desktop i did last time in that i traced every line for line, and not that live trace tool on illustrator. i hate that thing. especially with how sketchy my work gets. anywho... BAM!

and it comes in blue!

i couldn't figure out what to do with the background so i just threw some stuff up there. that was probably the hardest part cause i didn't really plan for it. other than that i think it came out quite nice. soft on the eyes and relaxing. i also have her in a baby blue rash guard with matching surfboard, if anyone cares, but opted to go without it. oh, and the text in the paragraph is blatantly stolen from surfboardshack.com

not like you can read it anyway, but it just talks about how you would consider what kind of surfboard you would. want to buy .

had lots of fun doing it.... and i need to make a new avatar that matches this site.

okay so it's been a while... BUT! i got pics from my vacation in hawaii! pics pics and more pics... okay so it's a cheap gallery, but i got some pics up there. So it was my 1st time in Maui. because I havent been on vacation with the family in like five years they dubbed the name "Nohana" for me. its kinda like a play on words with "Ohana" meaning family. So essentially they were calling me "no family." I thought the cruel days of older brothers were lost after high school. but it wasn't just my older brothers, it was my whole freakin family. Uncles, aunts and cousins.. hell, even the guy who sold us our timeshare.

However, i did have a lot of fun. I finally got to go surfing for the 1st time and now i'm hooked. I'd do it up here in SF but man.. the water isn't the same. it's kinda sad really.

and oh god... the food zomg the food.... aloha mixed plate... mmmmmmmm poke poke... mmmmmm i never ate so good in my life. and again... it's just not the same up here in CA. the new hawaii mixed plate franchises opening up around here aren't bad, but just isn't as good. i got pics of that too but ima have to dig them up somewhere.

Alrighty, I finally got the website up and running. I had to clear some old PhP forums stuff from a videogame waaaaaaaay long time ago. Under no supervision, it has been attacked by porn forum trolls..... fuuuuuun. So! Sunday is my birthday. It's coming up pretty fast and i have no idea what i want to do... much like the rest of my life. HAH.

I've already watched Spider-man 3, and 28 weeks later... so movie's are out of the question til the 24th. Pirates of the Carribean will be coming out that day. More heroes with eye-liner! Emo is becoming accepted into the mainstream. -_- ugh. as if i didn't hate emo kids as it were...

And someone remind me to get my camera up and running again. blogging is freakin boring without some sort of visual aid.
